School music groups to perform at Consortium Book Fair

 

Six musical groups from five schools will perform at Barnes & Noble's Waterfront store in Homestead on Sunday, December 12th during The Consortium for Public Education's holiday Book Fair. Pittsburgh Brashear High School students participating in The Consortium for Public Education's career exploration program, The Future Is Mine (TFIM), used Carnegie Mellon University's Hear Me! project as the springboard for a cross-cultural exchange. Consortium awards fall round of Great Idea Grants

 

The Consortium for Public Education's latest round of Great Idea Grants will support projects ranging from a mentoring program that pairs middle school students with disabled peers to classroom lessons using music to improve first and second grade reading fluency. Expect Respect team leaders build emotional IQ with socio-drama

 

Student leaders participating in The Consortium for Public Education's Expect Respect program convened earlier this month for training in socio-drama, a form of role-playing that helped them examine the kinds of conflicts that can tip peer relationships toward abuse and violence.
