ASCD Annual Conference


ASCD invites The Consortium to present work at national conference

 

Invitations to present at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's (ASCD) annual conference carry with them a lot of prestige and an opportunity to reach thousands of educators from across the globe. The Consortium for Public Education is honored to have received two of them. The conference, for which illustrator Martin Côté designed the poster shown above, takes place in San Antonio, TX in March.To read more about the work we've been selected to showcase click ASCD.


The Future Is MineTFIM to present its work at statewide symposium
 
The Consortium for Public Education's career exploration program, The Future Is Mine (TFIM), has been invited to present its work at the 20th annual symposium of the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators (PACTA). The two-day statewide conference, which begins February 16th at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA, will focus on the critical role career education plays in workforce development. Great Idea GrantsGreat Idea Grants applications coming due
 
Educators planning to submit entries in The Consortium for Public Education's spring round of Great Idea Grants should be putting the finishing touches on them now.  The application deadline is Friday, February 5th.  For information about eligibility and how to apply click here.
The Consortium awarded its first round of grants for the 2009-2010 school year in November. Projects to enrich science and environmental learning led the slate of winners. For a complete rundown, click Great Idea Grants.
 
Plum Borough School District to give students early start on Skills for Life
 
Plum Borough School District has enrolled all five of its elementary schools in The Consortium for Public Education's Skills for Life program. Although it is the latest district to begin the curriculum, a couple more are on the horizon. To learn more, click Skills for Life.


Hampton Township School DistrictNew partner joins campaign to bring children's books to needy families
 
Hampton Township School District has joined The Consortium for Public Education's 10-year campaign to collect and distribute a million children's books to needy families through the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's neighborhood food pantries. Districts begin outreach to parents for September kindergarten enrollment
 
Kindergarten enrollment planning for the 2010-2011 school year already has begun in a number of districts participating in The Consortium for Public Education's Literacy for Life programs, including McKeesport Area School District, South Allegheny School District and Clairton City School District.
