I wanted to send this newsletter early as with the holidays and family coming to visit I didn't think I would have time to do one later in the month for you.
I wanted to post a video that was sent to me by Elsie Campbell for last month, but got distracted by the sunshine and didn't get it in the news letter. But it is a great look at her cards.
I was so impressed with the rock face views on the drive down that I wanted to do them in wax and tried to think of a way to get that look. So the brain came up with a solution you might want to try yourself. First I would paint a sky as usual. Then I took a card and put a lot of wax in rock colors in the center of the card length wise. Then I would take the card with the sky and put it on the iron in the hot plate mode. As the card heated up I would take the other card with the rock wax mixture and bend it length wise so I could touch the card on the hot plate and release the wax off the bent card. Using that card as a paint brush I moved the card in sliding motion to create the rock faces. Sometimes I would mix the method with just the iron for a mountain, then a wax pad mountain in the foreground with then the rock faces in front of that. Why don't you give this a try... Here are some examples. First a photo example of what I mean. Now lets get creative.
Mountains with just the iron, then the wax pad and then the rocks in front with the bent card.....
I am doing a class in a scrapbook store this Saturday and I picked up these cut outs to put over waxed cards. This is an easy but effective way to make a card to send.
The new stylus has arrived and I am told the extra points will be available in February. So for now they will only have two pen points and a brush. But I did want to tell you about a new gadget I found. It is a small hot pot that can be used in many ways. The sponge brush works great for trees or snow... Also there is a cold stylus for thick applications. Here are two examples. Tree and snow effect. Thick center with the cold stylus.
I have arranged to stock these items and in the future I will show you how they can be used in more unique ways. The hot pot will run $16.00 and the brush $7.50 as it comes with a small plate that fits in the pot to create a flat well. These may not show up on my web site for awhile but you can email me if interested in purchase.
This is it for the month of January sent early because I will be with a house full of family this Christmas. So enjoy and Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas to all.
