John
Dear Encaustic Painter,

This has been quite a month for me as I decided to take a course that sparked my interest which has taken all of my free time. I have not had a lot of painting time. This intensive class was called Finding True Magic - Transpersonal Hypnosis and NLP. I know I will be folding this all into my love of wax painting and it will be fun to see how it presents itself. I take the same approach with wax, allowing it to lead me into different methods of working with the media as you no doubt have noticed.

I will see if I can get caught up for this newsletter.  I am still very interested in my project of transferring my designs onto different products. My wife loves her shoes and purse and I really like the umbrellas. So I am still exploring many different companies that let you do this with your designs. Now I mentioned that when I was exploring fabrics there was a pattern available that I tried that created mirror images and when I saw them on the fabrics I became very interested in the look. Just to refresh your memory I will put one here so that you can see it again. It is from a A6 card size image that is then flipped and the mirror of that images is done four times. I had this one printed up an then enlarged and mounted on a board with a mat coating. I liked the finished product so I will be looking into this idea some more.  I call this one Divine Double.

             Divine Double

Just as a refresher here are some of those items I have done with my designs on different products. It has been fun to have Muriel and myself out and about with wearing some of these and getting the comments. Not a bad marketing method as well.

Remember the large hot serving tray I found. Now it turns out it does not get as hot as a griddle so in that regard I am not that excited about how it works, but then again it does get up to melting temp and I have done a few projects in that large A2 size which just fits on this surface.

So here are a few of those experiments.

                 Hawaii Floral

                 Soul Expanding

                 communitcation

This one was not done on the hot plate, but a layer of Kleenex over wax and wax on top of the Kleenex before using the stylus.

                 Golden Garden
Five abstracts and one landscape I will put below.

                 Southwest

Ok, that is all I have for this month.  Get out those irons and melt some wax.
