Dear Encaustic Painter,

Going to start off this month with a pattern that comes from wood carving. This is a Pacific NW design very common in this area. I have always loved the wonderful carvings that are done with these designs so had to give it a try with wax. Ancient Ancestor seems like a good name for this fellow. Not sure which tribe this image comes from, but looks Alaskan.  Just donated this picture to the local Mural society to raise funds for more murals to be done in town. The plan is for 5 more to be done this summer.

More images from hot plate work for you.  Call this one
The Scabbard. Notice the stamped image that was done
with dipping into hot wax and then placing on the hot
paper to transfer. Also some transfers off embossed felt.

Here is another off the hot plate that I called Summer Dance. Again the tapping of wadded up Kleenex shows
up as the pattern over the hot air work.

Another stamped on hot plate process.

Lot more wax on this one an it ended up being called Tropical. Just reminded me of a jungle scene.

Same process as one I showed up above.

Here is just an A6 card sized image done with the iron
and the stylus for the globe. I called it Remembering
Heaven.

A new twist hot off the press is a way to affix crystals to the waxed surface. Here are a few examples of ones I just did today to see how it works. I am a distributor for all the supplies for the hot tool and the crystals in case your interested. They are not on the web site yet, but you can order with Paypal from me from my email address.  I will put on some of the info about that below. Not knowing I ordered the professional model for a test for three times the price, before I realized this one below would work just as good.  Company description:

Embellish your favorite crafts with a most economical handheld electric HotFix Rhinestone Applicator for your Hot Fix Projects. The  Crystal Crafter® Hotfix Rhinestone Applicator has tips that work! Don't be fooled. You don't need the awkwardness of tweezers to hold hotfix crystals when setting them with the Crystal Crafter Hot Fix Applicator, but at a more affordable price point. Unlike the many knockoffs on the market, the Crystal CrafterFirewand Rhinestone Crystal Applicator is as fast as the Professional Touch Rhinestone Applicator.
The Crystal Crafter® Firewand Hotfix Crystal Applicator has Universal Voltage -- it will work anywhere in the world with only a plug adaptor. Each model has 4 precision tips -- 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, as well as a 9mm flat tip. Ships with a convenient applicator stand.

$16.00 + shipping for the applicator   applicator
and each pack of 144 crystals are $3.00 no extra shipping charge ordered with the applicator.     Crystals 5mm
I only got an initial half dozen in stock to check the interest level.

Just a note on use. I chose to use the tip size smaller and place the crystals on the wax where I chose and then touched the crystal with the hot point. This way no mark was left on the wax around the crystal.

That is it for now....
