John Ideas To Try
Dear Encaustic Painter,

A quick newsletter as I am doing this several months ahead before we leave on our trip south.  Last month I was going over the A6 card stock and thought I would give you a few more of those to look at.  So here is one that I used the tin foil once again for the background effect.

        Space Shot

When I sit and do several cards they will begin to have a similar look to them. This is handy if you want to do a mounting with a series.   You can see the same effects as the previous card.

I have done it again.

                      Floral 2

I added another texture to this one. Some Christmas flowers came with a mesh like fabric around them and I decided to see what that would do with the wax and iron. So the finer mesh effect is done with the iron over that fabric on the wax along with the foil effect.

                       antique flowers

New years eve and had to paint a few hours so here is what came out of that session.  First one I called the wishing tree.

You can see the foil effect again on midnight rose.

As you can see I am having fun with the foil process. Called this Duet.

Abstract images are a lot of fun for sure.

New Years day a few more painted for you to look at and I will wrap up this issue.

       Landscape

This one I used some watercolor for the sky and then waxed over that. A bit of mica gold power on the tree.

The four trees on the right were done with the edge of the iron.

       landscape 3

This next one has watercolor in the sky before I waxed over it.

      landscape 4

A6 card stock with two layers of images laid down. The first was an abstract that I waxed over and some of the color shows through and then a wax pattern of flowers that also had some Kleenex in areas . An insert of anther image stuck in the wax an then a thin sheet of screen fabric over that was attached with wax. I called it Sisters.

Doing a series that can hang together..
       trees 1 trees 2 trees 3

                   trees 4
When you do them at one sitting they seem to flow together very gracefully.

Ok my friends that is it for this month. Hope these gave you a few ideas to work with.  I should be home this month and will hopefully have some new ideas for you.
