April is a busy month this year; we are excited to participate in the annual National Walk @ Lunch Day on April 27th, and we encourage you to join us -- if not literally, then in spirit by walking at your location. Send us an email to let us know if you are participating in this event.

This month's edition of Prevention 101 focuses on men's health. It's as important for men to take care of themselves as it is for women, and statistics indicate men don't take the time to check in with their physician. We encourage all men to take care of themselves for those they love. We also continue with the next issue of the LighTEN series, which discusses personal resilience and the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on life.

The health care reform law's first anniversary was March 23. We have included a legislative brief with information about this law for your reference. We will be posting updates on this legislation as we receive them, so that you stay informed.

April brings us Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter -- days to reflect and contemplate our faith and God's grace. Have a blessed Easter!

Health Care Reform Timeline

Health Care ReformOn March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law a groundbreaking health care reform bill -- the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This legislation, along with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, makes sweeping changes to the U.S. health care system. These changes will be implemented over the next several years.

The attached Brethren Insurance Services Legislative Brief provides a timeline of the implementation of key reform provisions that affect employers and individuals. Please click here for more information and contact Insurance Services with any questions about how you can prepare for health care reform.
