District Programs for the New Church Year 

From stewardship to OWL training and from conflict resolution to staff team startup events, Mass Bay and Clara Barton District programs aim to help your congregation and its leaders grow and thrive.   

 

We'll share details about these and other programs in the coming months.  For now, save the dates and spread the word! 

 

Start Up Events for Lay and Professional Leaders 

Though offered once in each district, teams may attend either offering


Presidents and Ministers Convocation

An opportunity for teams of Ministers and Board Presidents to strategize about how to serve the mission of their congregation, to identify the distinct and overlapping roles of lay leadership and professional ministry, to understand individual work styles and to nurture complementary leadership.

Staff Start Up

Staff Start Ups are invaluable for congregational teams with new staff members.  Staff teams will talk about how to build a healthy and productive team culture, how to understand the staff team mission, and how to negotiate relationships with lay leaders.  

Board/Lay Leadership Retreats
District staff and consultants can be available to facilitate your board retreat. For more information or to schedule, email Rev. Sue Phillips at sphillips@uua.org.

R.E./R.E. Committee Start Ups
District staff and consultants can be available to facilitate a retreat for Religious Education Committees working with a newly hired Religious Educator. For more information or to schedule, email Karen Bellavance-Grace at kbellavancegrace@uua.org

Congregationally-Based Social Justice Ministry

with Meck Groot, Social Justice Coordinator

Social Justice teams together with congregational leadership will explore together what is meant by "congregationally-based social justice ministries." They will consider how social justice ministries might live at the heart of congregational life, engaging and transforming both individuals and the community.

Control - Conflict - Covenant (a two-part series)

with Doug Zelinski, Director of Leadership Development
This two-part series will address the heart of congregational life: how we treat one another within our own congregation.  The workshop will help you and your team create deeper opportunities for spiritual growth, more effective governance, meaningful programming, and successful outreach in your community. We invite you to discover and build on the essence of all vital congregations: healthy ways of expressing control, conflict and covenant.

Renewing Our Commitment to Multicultural Ministries 

An opportunity to participate with other congregational teams in learning about ways to grow multicultural ministries within your congregation. This annual gathering is offered by GRACE: Growing Racial and Cultural Equality, a district anti-racism team.

Renaissance Modules offer professional development for religious educators and others interested in lifespan faith development.

Youth Ministry Training for Youth Advisors
This workshop provides an overview of the components of youth ministry, a brief history and philosophy of UU youth ministry, and a model of youth ministry that brings adults and youth into partnership.

A rare opportunity for religious professionals to explore together some of the dynamic challenges for Unitarian Universalist faith development.

Our Whole Lives Teacher Trainings
These trainings equip individuals to lead OWL programs in their community. We are working with other UU districts in the region as well as with the United Church of Christ (UCC) to provide a comprehensive teaching program. (Links provided for all trainings that are currently taking registrations.)
