Welcome Again! 
This is the second issue of the new Clara Barton District Email Newsletter and we have had a very positive response so far. We will continue publishing once a month to send our congregations, members, staff and lay leaders the latest information and resources. Please forward the CBD Email Newsletter to anyone in your congregation. They then, can choose to subscribe regularly by using the "Join our Mailing list!" link which will appear in the forwarded newsletter. And don't forget our NAME THE NEWSLETTER CONTEST. Please send your creative idea(s) for a name for this newsletter to the CBD office at clarabartondist@verizon.net.
Plan to be Ready!
Though the calendar may still say summer, fall and the start of a new church year are a quick flip of the page to September. I trust the summer has been relaxing and restorative for you and you are ready to jump back into our UU community with renewed energy and commitment. 
 
As you greet friends that you may not have seen over the summer, remember to welcome newcomers as well. Along with back-to-school shopping comes church shopping by many seekers looking for our world-healing message. Plan to be ready with greeters, name tags, good signage, and welcoming words to all. For more resources, take a look this list of 100 Ideas for Membership Growth from the UUA or have a look around the Leader's Library at the UUA website for ideas that meet your congregation's needs.

Fall Rally - November 7, 2009 
The Fall Rally on November 7 is shaping up to provide multiple in-depth leadership development opportunities. Full details will be available in early September. Day-long workshops that have been confirmed for the event include:

Elaine Garofoli - "Seeing Your Congregation as a System"
Ingrid Holcomb - "Emotional Intelligence"

and several more in the works.

Looking to grow your congregation?  Your UU neighbors can help. Grant applications are due to the Chalice Lighter Committee October 15 for the first call and February 15 for the second.
