WARREN SCHOOL E-BLAST #27
March 8, 2012

Dear Parents and Community Members,

VIDEO FROM MR. HIBBERT

Just a reminder: This weekend we all change our clocks ahead one hour.

The Connecticut Mastery Tests have been going well at Warren School. This year, I am again grateful to the Friends of Warren School for providing snacks to our students prior to them taking the tests.

As I have written in past letters, I am very happy with the support Warren School receives from parents, community members, and the Town of Warren. A great example of this support occurred this week when Ms. Ellen Paul (Warren Town Historian and member of the Warren Historical Society) attended our monthly teacher meeting. Ms. Paul offered the services of the Warren Historical Society to our school to help enrich what already occurs in our classrooms. Several teachers have already taken Ms. Paul up on her offer.

If you have not had a chance to visit the Warren History Website, I encourage you to do so. There is a great amount of information about the Town of Warren that many people will find interesting. Additionally, the Warren Historical Society has put together a survey looking for your input on how they can best serve the community.  If you have the time, please take a moment to fill out their survey.(I recently took the survey and it took less than five minutes.)

Finally, don't forget that the Warren School website is continuously updated to including an archive of this year's e-blasts. At any time you can look back on previous e-blasts to view photos, videos, or find information. In addition, the Calendar is constantly being updated with the most recent information on events. Please check the Warren School Website at

http://www.rsd6.org/subsite/wns often!

Enjoy the warm weather!

Warren School's STUDUCATE
There were many people who spoke with me about how happy they were with last Thursday's Studucate event. I was very proud of the students as I watched them present to large groups of adults. I thought the students were composed, professional, and that they all did a great job.

Here are two voice threads that students and parents created as part of the evening.

Kid's Marathon

Warren School will be participating in the Kid's Marathon this year (as will James Morris School and Goshen Center School).  Our goal in participating in the Kid's Marathon program is to encourage students to spend time everyday being active. The highlight of the program will be meeting up with hundreds of students at Litchfield High School to run the final 1.6 miles in front of a crowd of cheering spectators.

The fee for this event is $5 per child. The Friends of Warren School will pay 1/2 of the fee for every child so that the final cost for participation is $2.50 per child. Each participant will receive a training booklet, a t-shirt, and a medal. Please let me know if, for any reason, you need financial help.
Of course you may choose to not have your child participate if you wish.
