Dear Wamogo Families and Friends,
As a reminder, we are in the middle of mid-term exams. We have been quite lucky with the weather! I hope that your child is doing his or her personal best!
I encourage you all to work closely with your child's teachers and to monitor his or her progress for the remainder of the school year. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact the school. I would like Wamogo to be a partnership where we are all doing "Whatever It Takes" to make each year a successful one for your child.
Please be aware that the CMT and CAPT take place during the month of March. Testing dates will be March 5th through March 16th. A schedule and letter will be available on-line.
Please make sure that your child gets an appropriate amount of rest and that they have a healthy breakfast, especially during testing periods. As always, a breakfast program will be available for purchase to start the day. We have spread the testing window over two weeks for your child to focus only on one test per day.
Course registration will take place on February 15th. This is a time for you to sit with your child and review the Program of Studies. The Program of Studies can be found on-line (available February 6th) at www.rsd6.org. Students will have the opportunity to meet with their teachers to discuss which classes best meet their academic needs. If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to call our guidance department. Your child's school counselor will be glad to assist you.
I am excited about all of the positive strides we are making at Wamogo. I encourage you to attend our parent coffees; the dates are posted online at www.rsd6.org. Also, please consider joining "E-news" by clicking on the revolving "E" on our website. In addition, the WPO Booster is an excellent way to get involved at the school level. The next meeting is tonight in the library media center at 7:00.
Please feel free to send me an email, wegan@rsd6.org, or call 860-567-7410 with any questions, concerns, or wonderful things that you might want to share with us. Wamogo is a special place and we are all privileged to be here.
Reminder: A budget workshop will take place on February 6th and all are invited to attend. Also, please feel free to follow me on Twitter. I am @wprincipal and welcome all followers.
Wishing you the best,
Bill Egan

A Reminder from Mary Romano, School Nurse |
In order to prevent the spread of illness and the possibility of relapse, children who have been vomiting or have other symptoms of illness should remain at home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. We are seeing a growing number of relapses with this particular stomach virus. Students must also be fever-free without the aid of medication for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school. Please remember to call the school 24/7 if your child will be absent or tardy.

Tech Ed Career Worshop | |
Universal Technical Institute Career Workshop at Wamogo on Wednesday, February 8th:
Mr. Michael Balthazrr is the local Admissions Representative for Universal Technical Institute. He will be at Wamogo on February 8, 2012 to present a workshop to Mr. Fegley's and Mr. Brittain's classes.
UTI was founded in 1965 and has 11 campuses across the country; the closest campus is located in Norwood, Massachusetts. The school offers career specific, hands-on training in the transportation and motorsports industries. They have 26 industry relationships offering credential training from many manufacturers including; Mercedes Benz, Cummins, NASCAR, and Harley Davidson to name a few.
Universal Technical Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). UTI is a proud member of the STEM Education Coalition.
The workshop is a multimedia presentation that keeps the students engaged and challenges them to explore and plan their future after high school. As part of the presentation, Mr. Balthazrr will discuss various paths one can take after leaving high school including the specifics of UTI's programs.
With limited funding in the State of Connecticut many students are now missing out on technical education. This ultimately limits their exposure to many technical fields; especially in diesel industrial and hydraulics.
The UTI workshop will give students the opportunity to gain more exposure to career opportunities.
Handouts and detailed information will be provided.
Wamogo students interested in attending this workshop should contact Mr. Fegley or their respective Guidance Counselor.
