Thanks for your requests for clarification of our company class dress code. We have made a few updates that go into effect on Nov. 1.

Ballet:

Black leotard and pink tights, ballet skirt or form-fitting black shorts are optional. Clean buns are required for company dancers. If your dancer's hair is too short for a bun, please have her pin it back securely. Boys may wear black sweatpants or shorts with a white, gray or black tank top or shirt (not baggy).

Competition jazz, lyrical, tap, kick, technique, etc.:

We recommend keeping it simple. A black leotard, form-fitting shorts and tights are a great way to make sure your dancer is prepared for all classes. Appropriate dance wear options include: any color leotard, form-fitting t-shirt or tank top with tights and a dance skirt or form-fitting shorts. Boys may wear sweatpants or shorts with any color tank top or shirt (not baggy). No pants, baggy shirts, baggy shorts or uncovered bra tops/sport bras. Proper dance shoes must be worn in all classes.

Hair should be pulled back cleanly and securely using a combination of multiple hair binders, bobby pins, barrettes and hairbands that works best for your dancer's hair.

Hip Hop:

Sweatpants or dance pants and a t-shirt, tank top or leotard. Clean-soled tennis shoes or dance sneakers must be worn in hip hop class. Knees must be covered with pants, tights or knee pads.
Thank you for helping us make our dress code more clear for you and your dancer. We have created a reminder note that will be sent home if your dancer is not in proper dress code. As always, our teachers will be asking your dancers to be properly dressed for class. We will remind all competition classes of the dress code in class this week. As of next Tuesday, Nov. 1, we will start sending home reminder letters when needed.

We have made one major change to our dress code. Starting next Tuesday, Nov. 1 we ask that all dancers have their bellies covered while at the studio. It has come to our attention that since we have male teachers and male competition dancers, it can be uncomfortable for both genders if bellies aren't covered. We know that many of you dance with us because you appreciate our more modest approach to costuming, music and choreography. It is appropriate for us to extend this modest approach into our dance classes. We want this to be a place where your dancer feels safe and comfortable about his or her body.

Reminders...
  • There is no class on Monday, Oct. 31.
  • The "Change the World Talent Show" now named, "TalentXchange" has been rescheduled. The original date for the auditions was Saturday, Nov. 5. Your dancer no longer has a Nov. 5 event (besides regular Saturday dance classes). The auditions are now scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 27-29. We will send you an update soon on schedule details, possible performances, volunteer & sponsorship opportunities.
