Breaking News . . .
Host Venue Caves to Anti-Gun Pressure and Cancels
Anti-gun activists bombarded Gander Mountain with bullying phone calls and emails regarding this week's planned NRA-ILA Grassroots Workshops, urging them to cancel. Despite NRA-ILA's long history of holding Grassroots- Election Workshops at Gander Mountains all over the country, and in Wisconsin, Gander Mountain has caved and canceled NRA-ILA's Workshops at their Wausau location on Tuesday, May 15, and their Eau Claire location on Wednesday, May 16.
Despite these efforts to silence NRA-ILA and gun owners in Wisconsin, we have rescheduled these events. It is now MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER to take a stand in support of freedom and Gov. Walker by attending one of these Workshops. Show our opponents we will not be silenced!

From the desk of the Pres... by Jeff Nass
This months picture is of my lovely wife Jenna, and I, at the Nations Capitol. The recalls have made the spring busier then normal, but make sure to put range and match time in your schedule. The DNR has been very open to input from Wisconsin's, conservation, and sportsman groups including Wisconsin FORCE. It is great to at least be able to be involved in the process within the DNR. Make sure you get to the polls and support those that support you, starting with the Governor. It has been a pleasure working with him restoring some of our rights and, as a Second Amendment supporter, he greatly deserves our support. See you at the polls and on the range.

On the Range by Jeff Nass

Plastic snow fence is great for target frames for hanging targets. Targets are hung using spring loaded clothes pins. We came up with this several years ago based on an older design using chicken wire. Although the target itself isn't orange, it was pointed out to me by DNR Hunter Education Instructor Jack Van Sistine that we are still shooting at something orange. With that in mind, many supply stores, including Menards, stock green and black plastic snow / garden fencing. Besides the "shooting at something orange" issue, many find the green a more pleasing color.
The first response in "show me your sign" is from Winnequah Gun Club. The new sign is proudly located on a main County Road, instead of the of the beaten path location of the former sign. Posting a nice sign promoting your club as an asset in your community will help keep your range open. Having a safe, convenient place to site in your deer rifle is good, but it is more important that you get the families in the neighborhood to appreciate your presence. Please send pictures of your clubs sign to president@wi-force.org

 Legislative Update by Jeff Nass
As the chartered NRA State Association, Wisconsin FORCE supports and the endorsements of NRA-PVF.
The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) endorses Scott Walker for Governor in the June 5 Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election. "Governor Walker has proven his dedication to gun owners and the Second Amendment," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Because of his unapologetic support of our rights, Scott Walker has earned an "A+" rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF."
For more than a decade, the NRA fought for right-to-carry in Wisconsin, only to have anti-gun and anti-self defense governors veto the legislation. A bipartisan majority of state legislators passed right-to-carry legislation in 2011, making Wisconsin one of the last states to pass this important self-defense law. Governor Walker kept his campaign promise and signed this hard-fought legislation into law.
Also in 2011, Walker signed into law critical Castle Doctrine legislation, protecting law-abiding citizens who defend themselves and their families from criminal attack. This law establishes the presumption that an individual who forcibly enters one's home, business or occupied motor vehicle is there to cause death or great bodily harm, and allows the use of force, including deadly force, against that person. This bill also eliminates any "duty to retreat," so that law-abiding citizens are no longer required to turn their backs on a criminal and try to run when attacked.
Governor Walker also signed into law the Hunting Heritage Act, which encourages the recruitment and retention of hunters and trappers through many creative initiatives, including a reduction in fees for hunting small game, deer, and wild turkeys. It also offers prizes for experienced hunters and trappers who recruit new hunters to share in Wisconsin's hunting heritage.
In contrast, Walker's opponent, Tom Barrett, has a career-long "F" rating from NRA-PVF. Barrett has supported bans on commonly owned firearms, supported exposing hunters to prosecution, and has consistently opposed commonsense self-defense legislation.
"The choice for gun owners in this recall election is clear. Governor Walker will fight to protect our Second Amendment freedoms and hunting heritage. Tom Barrett opposes our rights. We urge all NRA members, gun owners and hunters in Wisconsin to vote Scott Walker for Governor in the June 5 gubernatorial recall election," concluded Cox.
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.

Hunters Endorse Walker
May 9th, 2012 - MADISON
Key members of Wisconsin's Hunters Rights Coalition today endorsed Governor Scott Walker for reelection this June 5th.
The Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association (WBHA), the state political committee for Wisconsin's Chapters of Safari Club International (SCI), Wisconsin FORCE - the chartered state NRA chapter, Whitetails of Wisconsin, and the NRA have all endorsed Walker as the strongest advocate for hunting, gun rights, and conservation that this state has seen for many years.
"Governor Walker has been incredible for hunters in his first year and a half in office," said Joe Koback, Chairman of SCI's state political committee. "He got rid of earn a buck, brought in Dr. Kroll to clean up the DNR mess, got rid of outdated gun case regulation, and appointed good pro-hunting people to DNR leadership."
WBHA President Al Lobner agreed. "Walker signed into law the Bear Bill which Governor Doyle had vetoed. His administration has been 100% in favor of delisting wolves, and he recently signed Wisconsin's first modern wolf hunting season bill. He also made sure that stewardship land purchases are open to hunting, fishing, and trapping."
"He is the most pro Second Amendment Governor we have had in my lifetime," said Wisconsin FORCE President Jeff Nass. "He not only signed a strong concealed carry bill into law, but he also supported and signed the castle doctrine, helping Wisconsinites feel safe in their homes."
Whitetails of Wisconsin President Laurie Seale added, "Scott Walker has introduced a commonsense approach to regulation of our industry and hasn't panicked over CWD. We strongly support his reelection."
Lobner added, "Governor Walker also signed an historic wetlands bill which will guarantee the creation of many acres of high quality, huntable, wetlands over the next decade."
"Wisconsin hunters should know that they will not find a better friend for our hunting heritage than Governor Scott Walker," said Koback.

Election Day Advice from an Unlikely Source
or a likely source, depending on your viewpoint
Posted on www.nraila.org on May 4, 2012
This week, the Wednesday Journal unintentionally gave flawless advice to the Second Amendment's supporters about who to vote for in this year's presidential election, and why.
The little newspaper hails from Oak Park, Illinois, a Chicago suburb that banned handgun sales in 1977. For the record, from 1977 to 1984, Oak Park's murder rate rose 58 percent, while nationally, the murder rate of suburban jurisdictions dropped 13 percent. So, in 1984, Oak Park's local officials did what all ideologues do when their judgment proves flawed: they doubled down, banning handgun possession altogether.
In 2010, the Supreme Court's decision in McDonald v. Chicago, which built upon its 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, struck down Oak Park's ban along with Chicago's. And that's what brought the Wednesday Journal's editorial writer to the subject of the presidential election, if indirectly.
"The moment will come again when it is right for Oak Park to join a wider battle to eliminate the scourge of handgun violence in our country," the editorial said. But "[t]he highest court in the land, now tucked neatly in the pocket of the NRA, is not going to allow any substantive handgun restrictions. . . . We need to wait for, and work for, the tide to turn, for new Supreme Court members to arrive."
We thank the Wednesday Journal for reminding us that in November, Americans will be voting for whether they want a Supreme Court that interprets the Constitution honestly, or one dominated by ideologues who view the nation's founding document as an obstacle to moving-as the new Obama-Biden slogan-with-a-history (see http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside-politics/2012/apr/30/new-obama-slogan-has-long-)
