Granite State Coalition
Against Expanded Gambling
Dear  ,

By margins larger than almost anyone had predicted, the New Hampshire House today defeated two slot casino bills, SB489 (which would have legalized 6 casinos and 17,000 slot machines) and SB490 (which would have legalized an unlimited number of "instant racing" slot machines at 3 race track casinos). This victory means that the House will now be able to get to work finding a responsible budget solution that does not rely on pie-in-the-sky casino money.

SB489 was defeated by 212-158.  Check how your Rep voted here.

SB490 was defeated by 236-113.  Check how your Rep voted here.

With volunteer help from many people and many legislators, we pulled this off against a tidal wave of millions of dollars in spending by the gambling industry.

Unfortunately, the fight against the predatory gambling industry is not over. Slot casino lobbyists are already planning an attempt coming in about a month to insert slot casinos into the state budget.

But ... we can't win this fight to protect New Hampshire's high quality of life, our lowest-in-the-nation crime rate, and our independent legislature without your generous financial help. We are in urgent need of $20,000 right now.
