Special thanks goes to the St. Michael's youth group for the wonderful benches they built for our classrooms! And thank you to all of you for your financial donations (you have helped us make this dream a reality)! This new location offers us expanded opportunities to provide vocational training and social, moral and values education to the at risk kids we work with in a safe and fun environment. We will continue our Boys club and add a new Girls club where we will use the Character Counts program ™ - a successful program used throughout the United States and other Hispanic countries to foster self-esteem, cooperation, respect, responsibility, goal setting and leadership skills in youth ages 9 to 16. See a short video of the boys sharing their gratitude to you for this wonderful club.

We are excited about this next stage in our mission. Cathy Flynn will be the Program Director of the center. She is a Canadian by birth, but has called Puerto Plata her home for 13 years. She has a passion for service, and speaks Spanish and of course English fluently. I will continue with my role as Field Team Director and supervisor of all of the Dove Mission's volunteers and outreach programs including those operating at the Vocational and Recreation Center. We have big dreams for this center which include a computer lab, a lending library, a recreation/sports room, a photography training center, regular art classes, a food shelf and clothing closet of donated clothes.
For now, we will start with the Boys and Girls clubs 3 days per week, and then we will add one program at a time. That is it for now - but I will keep you posted. Thank you and God bless you!
