Lavender Straw

Every year when we harvest, we have LOTS of lavender straw available. When we started out we cut everything into bunches, banded, hung in the barn and then "banged" or hit them to get the buds off. Cutting this was is a tremendous amount of work - more than we can afford. So now we cut with a gas powered hedge clipper,

We have plenty and can't use it all and would love to see it get some great use before the rains come.

HARVEST IN PROGRESS

Here we can see some clipped bushes and some lavender drying on a plastic. We currently have about 10 plastics around the field drying. It's our busiest time of the year. Busiest in the shop, busiest in the little factory we have to make things to go into the shop, and tremendously busy out in the field. Plus we like to get as much lavender in as early as possible at this time. While the oil stays in the buds and none of it is lost, the buds get a little less blue. So we tend to put our first cut in bunches and boxes and store them. The later lavender we aren't too concerned about the color as it is all thr same color when it comes out of the still anyway.

Linen Water Special Two for $22

This is another product that we have a hard time keeping on the shelf at the normal price of $16.00.. Made with our pure lavender oil dissolved into water with just a hint of rose makes it a wonderful spray for turn downs and sheets, rooms, couches, curtains - almost anything. But its too strong to spray in the face. It can also be diluted and "stretched" if you like a lighter fragrance.
