Boo Boo at 12 Weeks We thought we were getting to know chickens pretty well, and were constantly amazed at their intelligence, personalities and abilities to perform mental tasks. But this one has been a real experience. We opened an abandoned egg in a nest that sat in the cold for a day, but had a hole in it like somebody was trying to get out. This one - well she amazes more. Having had constant human contact literally since coming out of the egg, she has been people-socialized during the most critical developmental times more than any other. And it shows - she follows Meryl like a puppy, and she has several distinct songs that she sings at different time - one is a morning greeting, one is a bedtime twitter, and another is a curious greeting sort of song. When she sees Glenn in the morning for the first time she comes up and sings this little song and grabs a finger or the back of his hand with her beak - not hard. But she is wild too - she chases the dogs and bites Spike and Dexter on the rear end. We think that she is a Brenda-LT mix. Its a real education.
