APRIL 2011

Special Awards and Special Guest

As you may know the President's award dinner was held March 14th at the prestige Columbia Tower Club. The night was filled with laughter, excitement and joy. Our National President Michael Ty CEC AAC was there and had a chance to speak to our guests about what has been happening since he had become president.

We enjoyed seeing longtime chapter member celebrity Master Chef Roland Henin CMC CCE AAC talked about one of his passions working with the youth in the Chefs Move to Schools initiative. Along with Chef Henin was guest Jennifer Mitchell, MS, RD from the U.S.D.A. who explained how we could sign up and how to help young students and schools close to you.

Robert Cugini from the Chaine de Rotisseurs presented the chapter with a gift for our Educational Scholarship Fund. Thank you Robert for your contribution to our students.

I would like to thank all our Trustees, Officers, Board Members and Committee Chairs for all their hard work and dedication to our chapter and its members.

NEW 2011 STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Are you a culinary student? Looking for some green?

At the December 2010 Meeting we awarded the Darrell Anderson scholarship to Renton Technical College student Tony Sumpter. Tony received a $1,000.00 scholarship from the association and our local Academy of Chefs chapter. Tony has spent many hours working as a volunteer for the chapter and also works hard to improve his cooking skills.

During our April 2011 meeting we will be presenting our annual Evelyn Enslow scholarship.  Our local America Academy of Chefs and our ACF Washington State Chapter student scholarship applications are available online. The next Scholarship, Evelyn Enslow Scholarship, is due March 15, 2011. Our scholarship applications will be reviewed by our chapter's trustees and the Evelyn Enslow scholarship will be awarded at the April 11th, 2011 meeting. See the scholarships page on our website for details.
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have ideas for the association.
