January Meeting

We are off to a great start this year. Our January meeting at the Goodwill Bistro in Tacoma was a tasty and informative night. Chef Jeff Pratt and his students prepared some sumptuous appetizers with beef. Marty Carpenter CCC from the Canadian Beef Information Centre showed our members some different beef cuts using the Strip loin and Prime Rib. It was an interesting way to use them in a thicker, smaller size. The beef was absolutely delicious. Thank you Jeff and Marty.

February Meeting and News for Students

Our officers, trustees and board members have agreed to invite students to our monthly educational meetings. For the rest of this year you can come to our educational meetings for free. Go online and make a reservation using your email  before the deadline and you can attend our educational meetings at no charge. Our next educational meeting is a chocolate seminar by Trops Chocolates from Gig Harbor. The presentation will be on tempering chocolate, transfer sheets and  some of their chocolate specialties. Please join us for an early celebration of Valentines Day with a Chocolate seminar and tasting.

At the December 2010 Meeting we awarded the Darrell Anderson scholarship to Renton Technical College student Tony Sumpter. Tony received a $1,000.00 scholarship from the association and our local Academy of Chefs chapter. Tony has spent many hours working as a volunteer for the chapter and also works hard to improve his cooking skills.
