December WSCA Meeting

Come join us for our Holiday Silent Auction and Dinner Celebration on Monday, December 13, 2010, at Doubletree SeaTac. Award winning Chef Bruce Fry CEC has planned a seasonal dinner for our tasting. Please invite your friends and loved ones to partake in our annual event.  Visit the WSCA Meetings page to make a reservation.

Items needed for our Silent Auction:  If you have cookbooks, gift baskets, specialty food  and other culinary items; please bring your silent auction items early so we can prepare the bid sheets. See Jeff Pratt and/or email Jeff to let him know. jpratt@tacomagoodwill.org

 

October Meeting

Thank you Chef Bob Mauer for the great October educational meeting we had at Tacoma Bargreen Ellingson. Bob and his group served up a tasty menu. The manufacture reps helped educating us on the newest trends on gas, wood and electrical ovens. Thank you Frank Milward from WoodStone Oven and Josper Charcoal Oven and Grill.  Reps from Northwest Britain and Jason Pahlman, AltoShaam Combi operated by Robin Oury and Larry Jake of Pro Pacific Amana AXP-20 high speed oven, operated by Bill Kelly of Kelly Minks. We appreciate you all for showing us some of the newest in restaurant equipment available.

 

Congratulations New Board members and Officers for 2011 and 2012. Dan Lewark Vice President, Tony Parker Treasurer, and board members Steve Lammers, Steven Schrader, Jeff Pratt, Kevin Baylock, and Michael Baldwin.

 

Foundation donations: Thank you Executive Chef Chris Mills from Joey Grill/Lounge for donating to our scholarship foundation.

Volunteers are needed to be on the Apprenticeship Committee to help plan out the year and the support of our apprentices. We also need chefs who are willing to teach some apprenticeship classes, or to have an apprentice in their kitchen. NEW 2010 STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Are you a culinary student? Looking for some green?

During our September meeting we will be presenting our annual Joseph Sir scholarship.
 
Our local America Academy of Chefs and our ACF Washington State Chapter student scholarship applications are available online. The next Scholarship, Darrell Anderson Scholarship, is due November 15, 2010. Our scholarship applications will be reviewed by our chapter's trustees and the Darrell Anderson Scholarship, will be awarded at the December 13th meeting. See the scholarships page on our website for details.
