Our September meeting started off with guest speaker Sadie Kendall from Kendall Farms. Sadie presented her outstanding Crème Frachie and demonstrated several new ways to utilize their product. Visit their website for recipes and more information: www.kendallfarmscremefraiche.com Our dinner was catered by Renton Technical College and the award winning Veraci pizza. Marshall Jett and his crew fired up his wood-fired pizza oven and cooked up some fantastic artisan pizza for all our members. Delicious!! Thank you all for serving and hosting our September meeting.

Dan Lewark CEC CCA ACE our competition chairperson presented medals from our last competition. The recipients present were: Jeffery Duncan (silver medal), Sarah Palmer (2 silver medals), Kayla Mahaffey (sliver medal) and our Chapter Student of the Year for 2011 Krista Nakamura, Congratulations to all.



October Meeting & Special Event - Well Culinarian's, the time has come. Please come and join us for our October meeting and special event. The meeting will be held at the new Le Cordon Bleu School and our sponsors are Ocean Beauty Seafood, and Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission. Taylor Shellfish will have a oyster bar, Crimson Cove will have their smoked salmon and our own Two Snooty Chefs will feature their smoked salmon corn chowder. We will also have clams and local wine. The seafood and crab cake tasting will start at 6:00 pm. Meeting cost is $25.00 for members, $20.00 for student and $30.00 for non-members. Crab cake tickets are only $2.00 each. Our annual elections will be coming up in November for two officer positions, Treasurer, and Vice President. We also have several board member positions open; you need to have been a member for at least three years to qualify. Competition Info: Washington State Chefs Association is proud to present their annual "Best of the Pacific Northwest" competition and this year it is crab cakes! On October 11th we will be sampling some of the best crab cakes in the Northwest, so bring your favorite recipe and compete for cash prizes in 3 different categories; Professional, Student, and Food Enthusiast.
 
We are holding this event at the new Le Cordon Bleu School in Tukwila on October 11th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm with the awards ceremony at 7:30pm.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Volunteers are needed to be on the Apprenticeship Committee to help plan out the year and the support of our apprentices. We also need chefs who are willing to teach some apprenticeship classes, or to have an apprentice in their kitchen. NEW 2010 STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Are you a culinary student? Looking for some green?

During our September meeting we will be presenting our annual Joseph Sir scholarship.
 
Our local America Academy of Chefs and our ACF Washington State Chapter student scholarship applications are available online. The next Scholarship, Darrell Anderson Scholarship, is due November 15, 2010. Our scholarship applications will be reviewed by our chapter's trustees and the Darrell Anderson Scholarship, will be awarded at the December 13th meeting.
