Monthly Meeting

Our April meeting was an appetizers food fest. We enjoyed the fresh, great tasting foods the students and staff prepared at Lake Washington Technical College. The action stations included beautiful fresh salmon and tuna sushi, handmade tortillas and fantastic Thai specialties. The educational segment was all about sugar: how to make, pour, pull and mold sugar, and we all got to try our hand at making a part of a show piece.

Special thanks for our member of the month and pastry chef Janet Shaffer for organizing our meeting and to Jessie Botstick for her help with the sugar demo.

Events

Do you have what is takes to become our chef, pasty chef or student of the year? Check out our June 19th Culinary Salon and the new Le Cordon Bleu School. We will have certification tests for chefs, cooks and bakers, visit our Competitions page for more information.

Next meeting

Our May meeting will be held at Providence Health & Services in Renton, and the educational segment will be about Pork. Chairman of the Board Brain Date just got back from the Pork University from which he will be sharing his newly obtained knowledge. Come and join us for education, great food and networking. Congratulations to Mark Delos Reyes, a student at South Seattle Culinary Arts, who received the Evelyn Enslow Scholarship at our April 12 WSCA meeting. 
Our next scholarship is the Joseph Sir Scholarship. Deadline for application is July 1 and scholarship will be given out on September 13, 2010. Click for Information
