The beach is a magical place, and we all remember the first time our toes touched the waves of an ocean, or you smelled that salty air, or built your first sandcastle. Beach trips give us so much; a chance to wonder at nature, time spent with friends and family, thrilling boardwalk days and nights dancing.
It's precisely for those opportunities- the chance to feel the magic and awe of the beach- that we strive to provide adults with autism and developmental disabilities we support a vacation trip to Ocean City, MD each summer. With your support, we have been fortunate to send over 40 adults each year for a half-week trip filled with beach days, boat rides, fishing, boardwalk fun and games, cookouts, dancing at Seacrets nightclub, and waterpark amusements. Will you help us make this trip possible once again?
The Ocean City beach trip costs $550 per person, and many of the individuals who are in our residential program and look forward to this vacation each year have financial need and are unable to cover these costs themselves. State funding doesn't cover recreational expenses, and many individuals do not have family support to rely on for basic life expenses, let alone a vacation to the beach.
