Brief explanation of the Montgomery County Match and it's history
For over twenty years, Montgomery County has provided a match to the funds
received by individuals with developmental disabilities supported by local
provider agencies. The match from the county has enabled local providers to
supplement funds from the Developmental Disabilities Administration for adult
residential, employment, day and community support services. The county funds
provide the means for agencies to boost staff salaries above the $8.97 included
in the state funding and assist with the higher housing costs in Montgomery County. More than two thousand
individuals with developmental disabilities are supported by agencies bringing
revenue of $94.9 million to Montgomery
County. The county match
is currently 8.17 %. Over the past five years,
state revenue has increased as additional individuals receive needed
services from local providers. The percentage of the Montgomery County
match to these state funds has gradually declined as show in this document. (Word document download) While individuals can leave
the county to receive services in other places in the state, most people prefer
to receive services in their home community. The county match has enabled
providers to expand, develop innovative and quality services and to meet a wide
range of individual needs. This state/county/private partnership, which
has been essential to the development of a strong service delivery system in Montgomery County, must be preserved.
