Caravan du Nord

Last month in our June newsletter, Tony announced the creation of the Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC) of which he is President and a founding board member.  The MMC has been busy planning is very proud to officially announce the Caravan du Nord Tour.

About The Caravan Du Nord

The Caravan du Nord is the first project of The Minnesota Music Coalition.

The tour is creating partnerships between independent musicians (who are not traditionally viewed as members of the fine arts community) and presenters (who are not generally experienced in presenting popular music). In addition to performances, the MMC will host workshops for musicians in each community on the tour.

Join MMC for Caravan Du Nord on Saturdays through September and October 2011. Seven communities will host half-day educational workshops. Performances will take place on Saturday evenings between September 3 and October 31, 2011. Each performance will feature two of the best independent artists from Minnesota and one local band (selected by the host community). In addition to performances, MMC will design educational programs in each community to complete the residency. This might include open sound checks, Q & A with local musicians, master classes, or workshops.

We hope you will be able to make it to one (or all) of the concerts!  This is a unique opportunity both for the musicians and for the communities hosting the events.  This tour is very special to Tony given his love for local music.  He is very proud to be a member of MMC and this upcoming tour.
