Greetings!
This weekend my son, Eric, and I drove to Norman to visit my mom, attend the Oklahoma football game and do some witnessing before the game. You can read about the outreach at the Oklahoma football game in our BLOG.
I have continued going door to door in Carrollton. Please see the blog for an update on the number of houses reached with the Gospel.

The Priesthood

Last weekend we were going door to door in the neighborhood and spent an hour witnessing to Moises who introduced himself as a Mormon High Priest. We had some discussions about why one should never claim that title since Jesus is our High Priest. Actually, Jesus is prophet, priest and king! So one of my friends wrote up a little study on this that I'd like to share:
I was doing a little research from Hebrews 7 about the priesthood in
regards to our Mormon friend Moises. The original purpose of the Old Testament
priesthood was that they would make intercession for the people and
make atonement(old testament), reconciliation(new testament). I have heard it said
that the prophet would bring God to the people and the priest would
bring the people to God. However, the priesthood role in that sense has
now been done away with because our only mediator/intercessor is now
Christ Jesus (our eternal high priest), making the classical role of
the priesthood obsolete. Jesus is prophet, priest & King(God). The
role for a human priest is no longer necessary. At least the role in
the sense that you would find in the Mormon or Catholic church.
Although we are still referred to as priests by Peter in 1st 2:5 Peter
and in Revelation 1:6. We would only be priests / reconcilers in the
sense that we point people to Christ. We have been given the ministry
of reconciliation according to 1st Corinthians 5:17-21. The role is one
of a servant but not in the sense of a position where one is to be held
in high esteem or in any way a mediator as I mentioned in the previous
examples. It's also interesting that with the new covenant through the
shed blood of Christ, not only was the priesthood no longer necessary
but neither was the law in regards to a Christian because the
priesthood was established prior to the law. Therefore with the removal
of the classical meaning of the priesthood was also the removal of the
law. Only in regards to the believer in Christ. You can see this in
Hebrews 7:11,12. In Romans 10:4 "Christ is the end of the law for
righteousness to those who believe". Nevertheless, the believer is to
establish the law or strive to do God's law/word in the power of the
Holy spirit. Romans 3:31, Galatians 3:11,12. The law is for the
unbeliever. (1st Tim 1 9-11. Psalms 19:7)
Well, sorry to be long winded as usual. I know that you may already
know most of this. Just some good food for thought if you run into
another high priest. It is also good to sharpen each other in Christ.
Proverbs 27:17. Let's pray hard for Moises. It is the only by the work
of the Spirit that he will come to Christ.

Evangelism Training

Basic Evangelism Training Seminar
Bezeugen offers free Evangelism training. Our next seminar is Thursday, September 17 from 7-9PM in Carrollton, TX. Please come and meet the newest member of our team, Duane Seaberg, who will be freshly back in Dallas after attending Deeper, the five hundred and witnessing at the Atlanta Falcons game. This training provides information on effective and Biblical evangelism. All attendees get a free copy of Ray Comfort's book "The Way of the Master" or Mark Cahill's book, "One thing you can't do in heaven"! Please visit the web site for complete details and directions. After the training we may head out to the Shops at Legacy for some open air preaching, one on one conversations and tract distribution.
Texas Revival Series
The Lost Cause Ministries is presenting an all day evangelism training including witnessing event on Saturday, September 26. Duane Seaberg will be there to represent Bezeugen with a table of information. Please register for the Texas Revival Series online. Pre-registration is rewarded with a Missing Heaven ... Unaware (DVD) and a copy of Jon Speed's book Evangelism in the New Testament. Don't forget to stop by and meet Duane at the Bezeugen table at the event.
Life Conversations Conference Calls
Brad Aldrich recently started a program called Life Conversations Calls. This is a great opportunity to get some one on one training. The calls will take place next Tuesday, September 15th at the following times (all Central time zone so adjust for your area of the country):

We appreciate your prayers
- Pray for wisdom and strength in how to reach Carrollton, TX with the Gospel.
- Pray for Duane Seaberg's trip back to Dallas, Houston and back to Dallas again before returning home on September 30.
- Pray for the "Origin Into Schools" project being organized by Living Waters as well as our team (including Duane Seaberg, Jon Speed, Mande and myself) as we head to University of Texas at Austin for this.
- Pray for Basic Evangelism Training Seminar dates for the rest of 2009. We are also working on scheduling a seminar a Grace Bible Church in Troutville, VA as well as some training in California. Please pray for open doors for these additional dates and venues.
- Pray for scheduling of one more movie night this year.
- Pray for revival in the church.
- Pray for scheduling an outreach at at least one Oklahoma City Thunder game this season.
- Pray for which Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks and Stars games that we should witness at.
- Pray for the development of new Gospel tracts. Specifically trivia tracts for Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
- Please pray for SOS Ministries in San Francisco. They are looking for 2-3 20-30 year old men to live in their ministry house. Please pass the word. Details on their web site at www.sosmin.com.
- Please pray for Moses in Uganda as he continues to take mission trips and share the Gospel. Please pray that the tracts we mailed over two months ago will arrive soon so that they can be used there. You can read an update about Moses in the Grace Bible Church monthly newsletter.
- Please pray for evangelist named Belmon in Cameroon (I meet him on Facebook). His specific request is for financial support as he goes out on mission trips in his own country. We also shipped him about 500 Gospel tracts last week. Please pray they arrive quickly.
