Sermon on the Mount- by Mande Kalbfleisch

Matthew 5-7
This weekend I had the privilidge of being a part of a world-wide evangelism outreach. On Saturday over 170 people in places all over the world spent a few minutes out of their day to stand up on an open air box and read God's word. It was amazing. I of coure was only privy to seeing two awesome evangelist take part in this. Early in the day Carl, Tom, and Brendan went to Arbor Hills nature perserve and read the Sermon on the Mount to the people who were out enjoying the beauty of God's nature. I missed that one as I had been tasked with making brownies for a Church graduation party. I heard it went well. After a full day of events, Carl, Eric, Brendan, and I drove out to Frisco to the Roughriders stadium. At this point I was really dreading going to this and figured Carl had done his part earlier so this was a moot point. Looking back on it, I was not prepared for what God had instore for me. I watched Carl and Shauna (who is 8 months pregnant) get up on the ladder and read God's awesome words to the people passing by on the way to the game. I watched Eric pass out 200 tracts, even in the pouring rain. I watched Brendan chase kids down the street to had them a tract. I watched Shauna's boys(4 and 6) hand out tracts to kids and get up on the ladder and sing songs to their Lord and savior. All of this in an event I didn't even really want to go to. Little did I know that God had planned a divine meeting bewteen Shauna and I. You see I have been very apprehensive about going out to hand out tracts and talk to people because I am afraid of what they might say or think. I have chosen the easy road and just prayer walked. While that is important, I feel like God is caling me to be bolder in my sharing of my faith. While I know this awesome event was organized for the lost to hear the Gospel, I also think it was organized so that God could put a woman in my life that will encourage me to get out of my box and stand up tall and proud for what I believe. Maybe you are like me and like to stay in your box. Maybe you, like me, are afraid of what question someone might ask that you don't have an answer for or what someone you know might think of you if they saw you. If you are, you should come out with us and see what God has for you. Looking forward to seeing you very soon!

Don't Quit!

A poem by Arica Wade-Gonzalez I met this awesome evangelist at Ambassador Academy earlier this month. In observing different styles of open air preaching I watched Arica use poetry to share the Gospel to the lost. After the Academy she wrote this poem based on the last words of encouragement we heard from Tony Miano..."Don't Quit". She has given us permission to post this here so that maybe you will also be encouraged by her words or her type of open air preaching. One thing I leaned is that there is not only one way of open air preaching. You have to do what you are comfortable with. I hope you will enjoy Arica's encouraging words as you read through this or watch the video.
Don't QuitHe places one foot on the box
with fear and trepidation
wondering how he's to preach salvation
to a nation where creation
has become an "ism"
where any form of catechism
is offensive to those who think the only god is them.
With palms hot and sweaty
he reevaluates his situation
and concludes that he's not ready
to be such an extrovert,
that one day without his presence couldn't hurt
the hardened hearts of those who were standing near.
He blamed it on them not having ears to hear
when his motive was really one guided by fear.
He set in his heart to get back down,
that he would share the Gospel when he got around to it,
that this was a recreational commitment and he was not bound to it.
And just as he turned to leave,
a still, small voice whispered ever so gently
and he recognized the sound of it:
"Don't quit"
And at that moment the Spirit started to implore him
to evaluate the faith of those who went before him.
Those who, having never seen the Father,
didn't count it a small thing to adore Him
with all they had.
In fact, the testing of their faith is what made them glad
because they understood that
God's eternal reward was for them.
"Don't quit"
He thought of those who stood firm
though they had guns to their heads.
Those who were stoned, flogged and beaten
those who were left for dead;
those who became feasts for beasts
for not staying quiet but preaching instead,
and his stomach twisted and turned
to think of how he would have fled.
"Don't quit"
The testimonies of the martyred
pleadingly ask him
to model their faith
and to follow the fashion
of their walk.
That living a life for Christ has to be more than just talk
and what comforts you.
That he would come to understand the things that Stephen knew,
who, even in death, delighted in truth
crying, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!"
"Don't quit"
God's Spirit nudged and it tugged
at his still trembling heart,
reminding him that those who would hear
were not very far
from where he was before he confessed,
before Christ saved him from death.
He reminded him not to forget
that those who would hear that are so vulgar and ruthless
will die in their sin if they remain truthless
and your time on this earth will appear to have been useless
if not used for the glory of the One who made you His.
"Don't quit"
And at that moment he found it in his heart to be brave
and lifted Christ up so that some might be saved.
And, oh, the souls that rejoiced for being snatched from the grave!
"Don't quit!"
"Don't quit!"
"DON'T QUIT"

Brady's Tract Testimonial I met Brady Brewer at the Ambassador Academy. He shared with me that he was saved through a Gospel Tract. He allowed me to video tape his testimony which we are now using as inspiration for Bezeugen Tract Club. Watch the video here!
Carl's Open Air Preaching On the last day of Ambassador Academy Carl got to open air preach on Huntington Beach. Here is a video of one of his times "on the box".

I am not
ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation
of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 1:16 (NIV)
