Gospel Tracts
Get Out of Hell Free Tract 1 Corinthians 9:22
"To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some."
1 Corinthians 9:22 (New International Version)

This article is used by permission from The Evidence Bible.

If Paul meant "by all means," he no doubt would have used gospel tracts as a means to reach the lost. A Christian book relates the true story of a diver who saw a piece of paper clutched in the shell of an oyster. The man grabbed it, found that it was a gospel tract and said, "I can't hold out any longer. His mercy is so great that He has caused His Word to follow me even to the bottom of the ocean." God used a tract to save the man.

Why should a Christian use tracts? Simply because God uses them. He used a tract to save the great missionary Hudson Taylor, as well as innumerable others. That fact alone should be enough incentive for a Christian to always use tracts to reach the lost, but there are even more reasons why we should use them. Here are a few:

  • Tracts can provide an opening for us to share our faith. We can watch people's reaction as we give them a tract, and see if they are open to listening to spiritual things.
  • They can do the witnessing for us. If we are too timid to speak to someone about the things of God, we can at least give them a tract, or leave it lying around so that someone will pick it up.
  • They speak to the individuals when they are ready. They don't read it until they want to.
  • They can find their way into people's homes when we can't.
  • They don't get into arguments; they just state their case.

 Sermon on the Mount

This Saturday, May 23

Tony Miano of Living Waters has posted the following challenge on Facebook:

Matthew 5-7 is commonly referred to as the "Sermon on the Mount." It is the greatest sermon ever preached in the open-air--preached by the greatest Preacher who ever walked the face of the earth--Jesus Christ.

Here's the mission:

Find a public place in your community (street corner, sidewalk, public park, etc). Stand atop a box or other sturdy object. And read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) aloud, in the open air. Depending on how fast you read, it will take you 10-15 minutes to read the Sermon on the Mount, aloud.

You have more than a week to pray and pick a location(s) in your community.

"Mission Good Friday" was our first effort of this kind. More than 170 people from all over the world joined in reading Matthew 26-28 in the open air. Some simply read the text. Others read the text and used it as a springboard to open-air preach.

Please join us in bringing the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

Anytime During the Day or Night

In Any Public Place; In Your Community; In Your Part of the World.

I plan to participate. Still praying about locations around North Dallas. If you are in this area and would like to join me please let me know. Even just for moral support as an observer, I'd love to have you come out and hear me read God's Word and preach. If you are in another area, may I encourage you to take up this challenge as well!
School of Biblical Evangelism
SOBE Online Study
Living Waters offers the School of Biblical Evangelism textbook. A few weeks ago in the blast we offered free copies of this book. We had a few takers and those people should have received their books by now. This is 101 lessons on Biblical Evangelism. I highly recommend this material. This is the material that Craig and I studied three years ago to get started with this ministry. When doing a study of this size, it is helpful to have someone to go through the material with you. To that end, we have created a Yahoo Group to facilitate discussion of people that would like to work through this material. We do not intend that everyone will be on the same section. We will provide weekly emails of encouragement. You set your own pace (say a lesson a week) and use the weekly emails as a gentle reminder to keep working. As Tony Miano told us at the Ambassadors' Academy, "Don't Quit!" You can get through this material and learn about Biblical Evangelism. If you would like to join the group, you can order a copy of the textbook from Living Waters. Then send me an email and I'll send you an invite to the Yahoo Group.
Thank you for your support and partnership in the Gospel.

Please remember that we have Free Evangelism Resources available for you on our web site. Choose from a number of books and DVDs.

Please use the link at the bottom of this email to forward this email to your friends and ask them to subscribe to the Bezeugen Blast!

Memory Verse
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
