Act Global: Entrepreneurs Expanding Globally

As an American Entrepreneur, the keys to your global expansion are:

1) Be Patient

Highly under-estimated. U.S.ers tend to be very impatient, quick in action and decision-making. This is absolutely not the case around the world. While you take the time to do your homework about the country you're expanding to, assess the pace of the society/business world there.

2) Ask More, Tell Less

When we're excited about a project and nervous about the outcome, we tend to focus on our check-list and state all our interests right up front. Spend more time asking, investigating, showing interest in the other's point of view.

3) Cultivate 3rd Party Relationships

Relationships rule the world! The more you can develop your network, the easier it will be to establish trust in the new environment. Get to know governing bodies and local city officials, business is often connected to government.

Act Local: How To Date An American Man

Sheryl Sandberg said one of the keys to a women's career success is having a supportive partner at home. But how do we know they'll be a supportive partner? And what can we do to help our partners be supportive of us?

I've been fascinated to see how this plays out in my Gender Cooperation workshops delivered globally. The objective is to help men and women work together more effectively but it often happens that participants reflect on personal relationships...

In the blog article below, I was interviewed on how to date an American man successfully. American men have a unique culture, often different from European or Asian men. The tendency is for them to be more individualistic, pioneer-thinking, and pragmatic in their approach to solving problems. (of course there are exceptions)

Tips for Doing Business in

France

1) Don't underestimate coffee, lunch and dinner to talk about business and get the deal done.

2) Debate and extended conversation is normal, but it doesn't mean a decision isn't being made. It often comes quickly in the end.

3) When speaking English, allow for some time for formulation, pause and speak clearly.

Work-Life Balance is a Growing Need

New Tips Below!

1) Communicate your need for rest and relaxation. And then TAKE it.

2) Say "Not now", you can set your own boundaries.

3) Plan regular activities with family: 10 minute rituals, lighting candles, reading the paper, watching a youtube video. Something that brings the whole family together for at least a few minutes per day.
