Act Global: Heighten Productivity in the New Year | The New Year's celebration is one of the most important holidays in many parts of Asia. If you're doing business in Singapore, China, Korea, and many other Asian countries, you will find it hard to reach your business partners during this time of year.
The exact dates for the Lunar New Year change but always fall between January and February. People celebrate for days and usually go away on vacation for two full weeks. This year it begins on February 3rd and it's the year of the rabbit. The color red, the number 8, and oranges are all considered lucky and celebratory symbols.
If you take the time to wish your Asian colleagues Happy New Year or send a card (preferably a red one), they'll appreciate your efforts and it will further solidify an excellent working relationship. Don't forget that much of the business world operates on establishing trust and friendship...

Act Local: Leverage Your Workforce from Mexico
| Are you miscommunicating or misunderstanding your employees from Mexico? Language isn't the only issue! Many times it's a disconnect in expectations - on both sides.
Make your team feel appreciated and make your job easier. There are 8 principles for working successfully with your Mexican workforce:
1. Don't ask 'yes' or 'no' questions, ask more open questions and you'll get more open answers.
2. Understand that family and those in the trusted inner circle are most important in Mexican culture.
3. Contrary to the stereotype, Mexicans are punctual for work and willing to work hard. But it's necessary to know the details: How do they get to work? Who are they dependent on? What if they can't make it?
4. Make sure any contractual or formal paperwork is explained well, endorsed by a trusted co-worker, and better, yet, translated into Spanish.
