British-US Communication
Tips for Success

1. The British use more self-deprecating or dry humor to break the ice where Americans rely more on small talk about their personal lives.

2. The American use of English is sometimes completely different from the British use. Be cautious of words, they may have a different meaning. For example, 'football' in British English is 'soccer' in American English.

3. In general, its important to come across confident and assertive in business in the U.S. where this is perceived as arrogant or unsophisticated in the UK.
