From the VP Desk Anne Ellington, Vice President and General Manager
Those of
you who have been around Sealoflex for even a short time realize quickly that
we are a family. A family made up of
loyal, hardworking, and wonderful people. Recently we had an event in our
office that may be a first for corporate America. It certainly was for Sealoflex. On the morning
of June 15th, we held our first wedding.
In
addition to my duties as Vice President and General Manager, I am
also a certified South Carolina
notary; legally allowed to perform wedding ceremonies. Gustavo Fernandez, a member in our production
team and his fiancée, Laura Paradiso honored me with a request that I will
always remember. Gustavo explained that he
couldn't imagine a better place to get married, surrounded by his family, friends
and co-workers at Sealoflex and asked if I would do the honors. I was truly touched that he chose me to
officiate and the thought of bringing two loving people together brings me
untold joy. We hope for good health and
blessings for this family.

Please
join me in a virtual toast to Sealoflex's newest married couple Mr. and Mrs.
Gustavo Fernandez.

Until
next month......

Sealoflex Salutes: Alvis Null - Null
Contracting, LLC
Alvis Null
came to the Sealoflex family in a rather unconventional way. As a riverboat pilot for 28 years, he
realized one day that he longed for something different, and did he ever find
it.
Seeing an
opportunity in the roofing and wall business through research into business
opportunities, it was a chance meeting with Skip Elliott, Sealoflex SC Representative, that brought Alvis to
Sealoflex. Since March of '03 he has
succeeded in our industry through hard work and dedication to his
customers. In fact, he realized some
time ago that he had to do very little advertising as most of his business came
from referrals; the ultimate compliment.
And dealing with the Sealoflex team is a pleasure. "I love the product, I love the people and I
especially love the warranties. This makes
my job so much easier," he is quick to point out.
Alvis
Null's Null Contracting, LLC specializes in roofs and walls and has hundreds of Metal, EPDM, TPO and Gravel Roof Recovery Sealoflex roof projects
to their credit across the state of South
Carolina. When
asked about his favorite job, Alvis is quick to point out the roof of the
Charleston School of Law.

Pink-Fabric-Pink with a finish of "Charleston Green" made for a spectacular job. "It's easily one of the prettiest projects
we've ever done," says Alvis. But what
may be most interesting is how Sealoflex helped us with the maintenance of that
roof. Just recently they went back for
an inspection due to a small leak.
Imagine their surprise when one of the crew found four 38 caliber
bullets lodged in the metal. Just barely
breaking the surface, the impact from one bullet caused a tiny hole allowing
the most minimal amount of water ingress.
A concentrated Pink-Fabric- Pink application and the leak was history.
Thanks
Alvis for your loyalty and support. You
make us very proud. |

Sealoflex Teams with

Sealoflex®
wrote the book on gravel roof recovery. There is no need
for a full tear-off, and the additional expense incurred with the disposal of
an old gravel roof. Sealoflex eliminates the additional exposure of the
interior during installation. Simply, only the loose gravel needs to be
removed.
GRR Flood
Coat, a rubber-based filler adheres to the existing surface, creating a uniform
base for the Sealoflex® Waterproofing System. The result is a tough,
monolithic membrane that provides ultimate protection from the elements. One
of the keys to the successful application of GRR Flood Coat is a clean
substrate through the use of RK Hydro-Vac's "Wet Vac" process. This process not
only removes loose gravel, it also cleans the surface in one-step, saving time
and labor expense.
For more
information, visit the RK HydroVac website. And, if you call the RK Hydro-vac national hotline at 1-888-493-7682 for a free estimate, simply mention you use Sealoflex and receive a special discount. |
TECH TALK Bill Young,Technical Manager, Applications and Warranties
It is no wonder that the GRR System is one of the favorites amongst all Sealoflex Products. To compare the difference of an old Gravel Roof vs. the fresh, white, clean, reflective surface of a GRR Roof is quite astonishing.
There are a few tips to remember when using this system.
- Clean surface thoroughly to remove as much loose gravel as possible. (See information on RK Hydrovac above)
- Never use Deck Fabric. Use Sealoflex Fabric instead. Sealoflex Fabric will shape to the irregular surface of the leftover gravel. Deck Fabric, being less flexible, will not and will result in air pockets and voids.
- Remember that GRR Flood Coat is blue in the pail. As it dries, it will turn black.
- Do not apply GRR Flood Coat if rain is imminent. It should be allowed to dry prior to any onset of moisture.
- Dump or pour the GRR Flood Coat and spread over the surface with a rubber squeegee or bull float so that the tool runs over the highest protruding gravel.
- Install the Sealoflex Waterproofing System over dried GRR Flood Coat per Sealoflex recommended guidelines.
As always, feel free to call us with any questions or concerns.
