Greetings! Winter is still here, but the days are getting noticeably longer! Warmth is the name of the game. Warmth promotes life, health, and well being. Keeping both body and soul warm is essential, even now towards the end of winter here in the Northeast. Below are some events and suggestions to keep you toasty and cozy inside and out. Warmly, Cordula

Are you warm enough?
Just for fun, try to sense if your feet are warm right now- without touching them. Then check with your hands. You may be surprised that your hands signal a different degree of warmth than you felt without touching your feet. Many people 'think' they are warm, yet some areas of their body are quite cold to the touch.
On the massage table or mat, most people are pleasantly surprised how good a warm towel feels when placed on the chest or stomach, or a hot water bottle against the feet. I slip a little extra warmth in there whenever possible, as it promotes settling down, relaxing and opening towards positive change. (Of course there are people who truly get too hot- and so far you have always let me know...)
When we are cold, we tend to contract, pull in, become more hardened- and most often we don't know it. Especially
when there are aches and pains, our attention may be closely focused on
that spot, perhaps even unable to go elsewhere. Warmth can help us to become supple, increase (blood) flow, and allows our attention to be further away from our body or 'the spot'. When not watched so closely, 'the spot' has a greater chance of 'thawing' and becoming part of the whole again.
A large degree of warmth escapes through the head. So the old saying 'When your feet are cold put a hat on' has some wisdom to it. Just as the cause of pain is often not where it hurts, your head may not FEEL cold, yet if your hands or feet are, putting a hat on may be a good way to support your body in its attempts to distribute warmth throughout.

Inner Warmth What warms your heart and soul? Perhaps a good book, poetry, an inspiring conversation, singing, playing music, reconnecting with friends or family, planning your garden. Make yourself a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, and spend some time pondering what inspires you. What (re)kindles your enthusiasm, revives your dreams? Even if it is something seemingly impossible, dream into it 'as if' for a bit; there may just be a way after all! When your drink and dreams have warmed you, kick off the blanket and do it!

Featured Modality: Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Yoga massage has been practiced in Asia for ages, and is increasingly becoming popular in the west as well. And for good reason: If you are looking for a whole-body 'workover' that includes gentle rocking, massage and stretching of your arms, legs, hands, feet, neck, scalp, and trunk, a Thai Yoga Massage may be well worth a try. Done on a mat on the floor it gives the added bonus of some bonding time with the ground that supports us. No knowledge or appreciation of yoga is necessary to benefit from Thai Yoga massage. While Eastern philosophies may or may not be your spiritual path, the Asians are masterful in their understanding and support of the physical body, and Thai Yoga Massage is one form of bodywork that reflects that. Thai Yoga Massage sessions are typically 75-90 minutes. Wear some stretchy clothing, and it may be a good idea to have your last meal about 2 hours before your appointment. Love Song
How can I keep my soul in me, so that it doesn't touch your soul? How can I raise
it high enough, past you, to other things? I would like to shelter it, among remote lost objects, in some dark and silent place that doesn't resonate when your depths resound. Yet everything that touches us, me and you, takes us together like a violin's bow, which draws *one* voice out of two separate strings. Upon what instrument are we two spanned? And what musician holds us in his hand? Oh sweetest song.
Rainer Maria Rilke
