Volunteer Spotlight

Anna & Smokey

Pictured here with Smokey during an expo for seniors at Immaculata University, Anna Brinley came to the WRC six months ago as a member of AmeriCorps*VISTA, a year-long volunteer program founded as a part of Lyndon  Johnson's Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to combat poverty. Having graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in May of 2010, Anna decided to pursue a year of volunteering before graduate school thanks to a particularly interesting class on urban issues and social structures she took during her final semester of college. Anna serves part-time at PathWays PA as a publications writer and social media designer in the Self-Sufficiency Department, in addition to taking part in the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program which helps moderate to low income taxpayers complete their tax returns for free instead of paying a commercial tax preparer.  At WRC Anna writes for our website and works hard to maximize our PR efforts in the community. She also serves as part of the dynamic duo that coordinates our Career Services Program along with Cathy Stemmler, a diligent volunteer and career expert, who together constructed the recent expansion of the Career Program to seven programs per month!

Resource of the Month:

Main Line Society of

Professional Women

"Our collaboration of professional women will stimulate change, assist in achieving new levels of equality in the workplace, as well as make positive contribution to the next generation of women and the quality of life in the Main Line region."

The Main Line Society of Professional Women was launched in May 2009 by COO & Executive VP Eileen Connolly-Robbins who was recently welcomed to the WRC Board of Directors, to fill a need for a professional organization for women of all ages and businesses of all types and sizes in the Main Line Region.  The Society of Professional Women (SPW) enhances personal and professional development by offering participants stimulating programs, networking opportunities and a welcoming forum to share experiences and insights. The Main Line Society of Professional Women also fosters community involvement. Each SPW event features a different Chamber nonprofit organization, and attendees get involved in helping with the group's mission. WRC was grateful to be the first recipient of funds at one of their earliest events.

The Society of Professional Women is free to join! Check out their website for membership and upcoming event info: http://www.spwmainline.com/

Surprise!

Lisa
WRC's dynamic Board President Lisa Satteson was recently married to Bob Pasquarello.  On January 29th the happy couple threw a reception to celebrate their marriage with family and friends. The bride is pictured here surrounded by her WRC cohort: Executive Director Michele Daly on the left and Advisory Board Members Martha Tavantzis, Kimberly Woodworth and Ann McNally. Congratulations and many happy years to Lisa and Bob!
