November 5th: First Friday in Wayne
|
On November 5th - Please join us at The Pear Tree for wine and cheese (and pears!) as we celebrate First Friday in Wayne. The Pear Tree, located on the corner at North Wayne and across from the Wayne train station will donate 10% of the evening's proceeds to the Women's Resource Center in Wayne.

The Pear Tree is a creative gallery with a superb selection of home décor, beautiful jewelry and gifts (enjoy browsing while having some wine or cider and cheese.) The Pear Tree's owner, Deanna Muth, actually reinvented herself when she opened her shop a few years ago, and has graciously welcomed professionals who run WRC's Career Guidance Over Coffee to stop by to offer a few career management tips and information, which many of us could take advantage of these days. WRC consultants will be there from 6-8 pm, so perhaps you'll take away a tip for managing your present career role or next life/career steps, too. We welcome your visit - hope to see you then!

Volunteer Spotlight: Sandra Donahue
|
November's featured volunteer is the intrepid Sandra Donahue, pictured above with husband Brian, and sons Colin and Ian on a family trip to Alaska in 2008. A dedicated member of our Board since 2009, Sandra has been at Bryn Mawr College for 20 years; first as the the General Manager of Wyndham and most recently as the Director of Marketing & Catering Sales. She is the mother of two teenage boys, and finds time to volunteer for the Hickman Home in West Chester and the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls as well as WRC. When this adventuresome woman isn't working or making a difference in her community, she spends her time being outdoors and enjoys entertaining at home. In fact, in 2006 she became involved in the Chinese sport of dragon boat racing! As an official Dragon Boat Paddler for Team Out of Blue, Sandra raised $400 for WRC in 2010. Here she is, ready to race!
