Women's Leadership Luncheon May 20th, 2010

Last year's event at the Union League
Friends
and supporters of the Women's Resource
Center are invited to attend the 4th annual Leadership Luncheon on May 20, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Union League,
140 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pa., 19102.
The theme of this year's luncheon is "Courage in
Action." Three distinguished women will be honored at the luncheon for making a
difference in the lives of other women. Andrea Agnew, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Comcast; and Mary Schafer, Vice President of Global Operation,
Synthes will receive WRC leadership awards. Millie Bell, former WRC board
member and Founder/Owner of Skin Health Solutions will receive the Phebe Novakovic
award, named after a long-time board member, supporter and volunteer leader at
Women's Resource Center.

 Along with on-going legal, counseling and career programs, WRC is offering workshops and support groups this spring. Please call to register for any of the following workshops.
Financial Issues of Divorce April 12th 7-8:30 pm This
workshop, facilitated by Lori Shemtob, Esq.,
provides an overview of the financial aspects of divorce. You will have a chance to askquestions in a group setting. Topics
include how to identify assets and liabilities, pension allocation,
decisions regarding real estate, and alimony and child support. Cost is $20.
Legal Issues of Divorce April 19th 6:30-8 pm. Mark Bleczinski, a WRC affiliate attorney, provides an overview of the divorce process and answers your questions in a group setting. Topics covered: hiring an attorney and
understanding billing, overview of the divorce code, support and
custody, alimony and more. Cost is $20.
Coming out of Marriage & Relationships starts April 20th. This theraputic support group is for women who are considering divorce, separation, or ending a significant relationship, or who are already in the process. Meets every Tuesday for 6 weeks. Cost for 6 sessions is $75.

Celebrate Volunteer Week with WRC
|
National Volunteer Week (April 18th-24th) is an opportunity to highlight the amazing volunteers who make WRC such a wonderful place. Volunteers answer the phones, facilitate programs, donate services, do community outreach, raise funds, plan events and serve on the board.
Many thanks to all our volunteers! We couldn't do it without you.

Michelle Weisberg is an artist and art teacher, as well as the mother of three daughters and one step-son. Michelle has taught art at
the Main Line
Art Center for many years and now serves as a
substitute art teacher at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr. She earned her BFA from
the Tyler School of Art, Temple University and is a member of the Third Street Art
Gallery in Old City,
Philadelphia.
Michelle has been a weekly phone volunteer at the
Women's Resource
Center since 2001.She
also served as a board member and helped the
center write its mission statement. Giving back to the community is a value that
has always been important to her, and she has done a lot at WRC, from answering the phones to
teaching art projects for the children at the Single Mothers program.
Michelle will be showing her most recent
paintings at the Third Street
Art Gallery during the Month of April. She will host an artist's
reception from 7-9pm on April 2nd and invites all of her Women's Resource
colleagues to join her.

communities through referral, counseling, legal and educational services. We empower women to make informed decisions
and achieve personal growth during life transitions. Three full-time and two part-time staff
members, along with over 100 active volunteers, provide services to more than
4,000 women and girls annually in the five-county Philadelphia area.
