What's Happening at the WRC?

The Women's Referral Network of Chester County (WRN) has selected The Women's Resource Center to be their "community partner" for the next two years. WRC will be the recipient of WRN's support through volunteer and fund raising efforts. WRN promotes business opportunities for and among women. It provides education, resources and a variety of networking venues. To learn more, check out their website www.wrnchesco.com
WRC is partnering with the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVC) to provide our Single Mothers Parenting Program to the residents of its transitional housing program. Funding comes from a government economic stimulus grant received by DVC that covers the next three years. Five other social service agencies are collaborating in this effort to provide a variety of services to this vulnerable population.
On December 4th, the Wayne Business Association's "First Friday" celebrated the holiday season with its annual tree lighting. Many thanks to business owner Deanna Muth of The Pear Tree for allowing WRC volunteer, Nancy Hesford and Executive Director Michele Daly to meet and greet shoppers, giving them information about our programs and services.
Welcome to new Board Members Maria Diaz, Manager of Events and Community Relations for Firstrust Bank and Sandra Donahue, Director of Marketing and Catering Sales for Bryn Mawr College .
Look for our "new and improved" website in January!

For more than 35 years, the Women's Resource Center (WRC) has been a beacon of light for Delaware Valley women experiencing crises or life transitions including abuse, homelessness, job loss, single parenthood, depression, divorce, and deprivation of basic needs.
At the Center, women from all over the region find compassionate, experienced staff and volunteers trained to help others live healthier, more fulfilled lives through information, education and support.
Last year the Center served more than 4,000 women - many from low income backgrounds and in need - through core programs such as Single Mothers Support, as well as our extensive referral network. WRC's Girls Leadership Program works with middle school girls to encourage self-esteem, positive decision making and career planning. As a non-profit organization, we rely exclusively on donations from individuals, businesses and foundations to continue the Center's essential programs and services.
