Thanks be to God for Our Emmanuel Picnic
What an amazing event! Around 120 folks showed up for the picnic at Ralph B. Clark Park this past Sunday. It was a bounce housing, face painting, tie-dying, squirt gunning, salsa tasting, BBQ feasting, blast. A big thanksgiving for all the people who made this such a success, and especially for Patty and Jeff McDaneld who honchoed the whole shebang.

Photo of the Week
Congratulations to Deborah Cantwell who entered this painting in the Orange County Fair and won:
* First place
* Best of show
* and ... Division Winner for the fine art amateur division.
Here are some things that she had to say about this work:
One of the fun things about this painting is the brush is painted with a palette knife.
(((For the artists, that is a very non traditional tool for a classically presented painting using techniques of under painting (you can see the sienna under painting) and layers. Usually a palette knife is associated with the more contemporary method of A la prima painting. )))
Some themes:
Life really isn't as complicated as we make it.
The basics of life are universal the world over.
What you see isn't always what you think it is at first look, like this painting of a paint brush that was painted with a palette knife.
And a theme that runs though out all of my painting is that there is such beauty in everything, even ratty old paintbrushes... Imagine the beauty we could see in each other.
Deborah will be awarded this prize today, Aug 4th, at 8pm in the Fine Arts Pavilion!
