Thanksgiving for the Life of
Pattie McMillan
It was a shock to find out about Pattie's death last week as a result of a fall in her home. She had just celebrated her 80th birthday and was planning to expand that celebration with other friends.
Pattie and her husband Mac, who died in 2004, were long time members of Emmanuel and have served this community in so many different ways. Pattie was always ready to share God's love with a listening heart, a radiant smile and a big hug. She supported numerous causes--from a grief group to a foster children's program--and frequently shared her support with others through her signature hand-made cards.
Recently, Pattie had been reminiscing about Mac and missing him. I can't help but think that she is dancing and rejoicing with Mac, now, and giving hugs to all the Emmanuelites and friends who had gone on before her.
I will miss her wide open arms and wide open heart.
There will be a memorial service for Pattie at Emmanuel on Saturday, July 16th, at 6pm, followed by a reception in Edward's Hall. Pattie's daughter Pam is suggesting that in lieu of flowers a donation could be sent to Linda Moore,112 West Wilken Way, Anaheim, CA 92802. Please write in note section "Donation for Camp To Belong" which is a program she was passionate about.
Please pass this information on to your Emmanuel friends who don't have e-mail.
Blessings,
Fr. Rob
May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen |
