Sam (Herman) Thompson for being nominated as one of the University of Tennessee's top basketball players of all time in celebration of the school's 100 years of basketball. Tennessee's coaches and promotions department decided to select 15 players to its All-Century Team, representing the best players to ever play at UT. Not an easy choice, so they nominated 56 Lettermen, from which the Volunteer fans will choose the final All-Century Team.
