Community Arts Council of Vancouver
creates community through the arts.
Our mission: CACV is the voice for the community arts in Vancouver. We explore critical social issues through creative processes. CACV fosters and supports programs, practices and initiatives that develop common understanding through shared experiences.
From its founding in 1946 as the first community arts council in North America to today, CACV has been influential in the arts and culture scene in Vancouver. 2010 program priorities are to support community arts programming and infrastructure in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver; provide leadership in community arts in the City as a whole; and be a leader in the developing field of environmental art.

Greetings!
Summer--now that it's finally here--is a time for playing, planning, dreaming and relaxing. CACV and our volunteers and board are involved in a myriad of activities. Check out the events on our online community (Join and post your own events too).
Our board members have many connections to arts and culture in Vancouver - through CACV directly and through their own work, interests and family.
Nathan Edelson's son Mariner's reading is at 7:00 on Thursday July 7 at Kranky Cafe #216-228 E.4th Avenue (East of Main west of Scotia)
Vancouver, BC. Here's the link to the info on the reading . Pierre Leichner recently spoke to a conference on Arts and Healing at UBC. Pierre is a member of Gallery Gachet collective and involved with the Art is Land network. Eric Bucad has joined our board as treasurer, as Ashley Hardill has moved to Toronto to take a job with Engineers without Borders. You can find links to Eric's blog about public transit and his photography by clicking his name above. Am Johal is heavily involved with SFU's Indian Summer program. I'll be at the film this Saturday - perhaps I'll see you there. With a tiny office and limited staff, CACV enjoys being able to connect people in various ways. Wednesday, several CACV'ers are meeting for a bite at Sweet Cherubim and then going to Sharon Kallis' artist talk at Britannia. This Sunday some folks are coming for a work party (4-6) and potluck (6-8) to talk about community environmental art in Kitsilano. If you're a Kits resident, let me know if you'd like to join us. Sincerely, Mary Bennett, Administrator, CACV mary@cacv.ca 604-682-0010
