Happy Tails to You! RISPCA's eNewsletter

September 2011

Greetings!

I would like to thank everyone who attended our 9th Annual Marvin Memorial Walk for the Animals on Saturday, August 27th. We were thankful for all of the supporters and dogs who made it to the walk despite the weather and threat of Hurricane Irene. Although we all got a little wet, everyone had a great time while supporting the animals at the RISPCA. Thanks to your support, we were able to raise over $22,000!

We would like to extend a special thank you to our volunteers, everyone who attended the walk, Steve Cascione from ABC6, and our generous sponsors: TD Bank; McLaughlin AutomotiveThe Animal Print Magazine; RI Local Magazine; Johnny's Barkin' Bakery; Bayer HealthCare; Fuzion Design; Sovereign Bank; Natura Pet Products; Cozy Quarters Pet Inn; Delmyra Kennels; Waterman Eye Care; Touisset Country Club; Allen, Duquette & Associates; Abraham and Company;  and Amy's Pup in the Tub.

Also included in this issue: Indi update, Scituate Art Festival, West Greenwich Animal Hospital's open house, and our Annual "Almost Free" Rabies Clinic.

Yours very truly,

Indi Update
Indi was abandoned at RISPCA on July 4thIndi and Willow

It was a long drive to Eddie's Wheels in Shelburne Falls, MA for Indi and RISPCA staff members Lisa and Laurelin,  but we are all hoping it was worth the effort. Indi was measured for a custom made wheel cart and will return in two weeks to give it a test drive. Some special modifications were required to meet Indi's needs and the folks at Eddie's Wheels were optimistic that they would have him up and about. This was encouraging news. While at Eddie's Wheels, Indi met a friend named Willow, a 2-year old Chihuahua born missing her front legs. We would like to thank Eddie's Wheels for the generous discount they afforded us towards Indi's wheel cart.
"Almost Free" Rabies Clinic
 Saturday, October 29th | 10:00 - 2:00

Pet owners  are invited to come to the RISPCA (directions available here) to receive a rabies vaccination for their dog, cat, or ferret. The cost for each vaccine is just 3 cans of non-perishable (human) food; expired food will not be accepted. For the safety of everyone involved, pets must be on a leash or in a carrier at all times. Owners are asked to bring previous vaccination records with them to the clinic (rabies tag is not sufficient), if possible. The food collected will be donated to local food banks. For more information, contact the RISPCA at (401) 438-8150 or [email protected].

Scituate Art Festival

Providence Roller Derby
 Raises Money for RISPCA

We would like to thank our friends at Providence Roller Derby for having the Rhode Island SPCA as the featured charity at their opening bout on September 3rd at the Rhode Island Convention Center.  The RISPCA received a donation of almost $200 from the proceeds of their raffle that night!
