Greetings!
November is Adopt-a-Senior-Pet-Month. We find it heartbreaking to see an 11 year old dog or 15 year old cat who suddenly ends up at the shelter after living their entire life with a loving family. Senior pets are some of the hardest to find homes for, but adopting one can be a very rewarding experience. - Senior pets are more likely to be house trained and know basic commands.
- A senior pet's personality has already developed, so you know what to expect and they require less exercise than their younger counterparts.
We invite you to view our list of adoptable pets, share it with family and friends, and consider adopting one of our senior pets today! We know that not everyone is able to bring a senior pet into their home, but you can help provide for the care of the senior pets at the RISPCA by sponsoring a pet or donating items from our wish list today! Thank you for your continued commitment and support! Sincerely,
Jim McGee

October's "Happy Tail"
Bailey
Bailey is a 10 year old spayed female. She was brought to the RISPCA in June because her owners' baby was severely allergic to her. Bailey is very quiet, sweet, and affectionate and quickly became a staff favorite. However, as a senior pet, she was at the shelter for many months, being passed over in favor of younger cats, before finding a new home. Bailey was last month's featured pet and could be seen in Rhode Island Mag and The Bay's Pet Page. On October 21st, Bailey was finally welcomed into her loving new home. |

About the Rhode Island SPCA
The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is the 3rd oldest humane organization in the United States; at 140 years old we are the only non-profit animal rescue organization in the state of RI that is legally able to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty cases. Along with operating a full shelter that is home to over 100 cats, dogs and other domestic animals each day, we offer medical attention for the pets of many impoverished, disabled and elderly individuals who otherwise could not afford to care for them. The RISPCA also provides Humane Education programs for local schools, youth and adult groups free of charge. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that receives no local, state or federal funding, and is not associated with the ASPCA or its donations, the RISPCA relies solely on community support from friends and businesses. |
