Greetings!
To everyone who participated in the Marvelous Marvin Memorial Dog Walk, the RISPCA cannot find adequate words to express our appreciation. It was absolutely an amazing success due to the efforts of many unsung heroes. There are many people to thank, especially those who attended the walk, volunteers, donors, staff members, our sponsors, and the four legged friends who walked with us. Your commitment will help those caged in shelters across our state hoping to have the opportunity to walk along with us next year. Through your support, we raised $31,032.76, which broke all records. We would like to extend a special thank you to ABC6 and Tanya Cruise from LiteRock105 for their help in promoting the dog walk. We would also like to thank Marvin for all he did for those who had no hope but got a second chance because he never gave up. We are grateful for the legacy he left us with to help those who cannot help themselves. You are all "paw"some.
We would also like to thank everyone who voted for us in the shelter challenge. We are pleased to announce that we finished 1st in Rhode Island, 33rd in the United States, and 1st among SPCAs in the country. We would especially like to thank our friends at the Equine Site, Jenny's Hope Rescue, and the Bristol Animal Shelter for their support! We would also like to thank the Petfinder Foundation for the generous $1,000 grant they awarded to the RISPCA for finishing first in the state.
We have many great events coming up in the next several weeks - we hope to see everyone there!
Thank you for your continued support! |
Volunteers Needed!
PetSmart Adoption Weekend | September 10th-12th
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the RISPCA will be at PetSmart in Johnston trying to find homes for our four-legged friends! We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping get our friends adopted! We would like to bring as many of our adoptable dogs as possible, so the ability to handle dogs would be helpful!
Please contact Jim at jmcgee@rispca.com or (401) 438-8150 if you are interested. Thank you!
*All those interested in volunteering must complete an RISPCA volunteer orientation. If you have not already done so, fill out a volunteer application so you can help out next time! |

About the Rhode Island SPCA
The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is the 3rd oldest humane organization in the United States; at 140 years old we are the only non-profit animal rescue organization in the state of RI that is legally able to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty cases. Along with operating a full shelter that is home to over 100 cats, dogs and other domestic animals each day, we offer medical attention for the pets of many impoverished, disabled and elderly individuals who otherwise could not afford to care for them. The RISPCA also provides Humane Education programs for local schools, youth and adult groups free of charge. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that receives no local, state or federal funding, and is not associated with the ASPCA or its donations, the RISPCA relies solely on community support from friends and businesses. |

Featured Adoptable Pet
BG is a one and a half year old Pitbull mix. She came to the RISPCA because her owners were moving and could not have pets in their new apartment. BG is very sweet and affectionate. She loves people and is very playful. BG needs leash training, but is very polite, sits for petting, and will not push you around. BG seems to get along well with other dogs and would make an excellent companion! If you think BG is the dog for you, come to the RISPCA to see her in person and fill out an application. |
August Adoptions
We are happy to announce that we found forever homes for 60 of our adoptable animal friends last month! We wish the adopted pets and their new owners many happy years together!
Help us do even better this month. Forward this email to friends and family and encourage them to check out our adoptable pets! |
