Thank You Friends!
Friends of the Howland Public Library support our efforts to provide quality public library services to the Beacon City School District, including our Summer Reading Program and autumn's Big Read. Friends fundraising efforts include a member drive, a family fundraiser, and Beacon Reads, the bookstore located at 309 Main St. Click here to see some of the great things HPL was able to purchase thanks to our Friends. What better place to knit in public than in a public library? On June 12th, members of HPL's Knit Together group had a great time knitting in the main room of the library as part of "World Wide Knit in Public Day". This event began as a way for knitters to enjoy the company of other knitters. The HPL Knit Together group meets weekly. So if you like to knit - or always wanted to learn - stop by anytime on Tuesdays from 10-11:30 AM and join our friendly group! For more information, contact Alison Herrero, Adult Services Librarian, at 831-1134. |
LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain and publish the audiofiles on the Internet. Their goal is to record all the books in the public domain. To download free audiobooks or to volunteer to read a book, go to LibriVox.org. Thanks to Deborah Weltsch, Librarian, Coordinator of Central Library Services, Poughkeepsie Public Library District for this tip.
