Greetings!
We have always felt a bit out of place continuing to live in Orange County, California, while the focus of our ministry has always been in reaching the lost in remote locations, but God has always given us a sense that this is right where He wants us, at least until recently. Lesli and I both believe that we are finally being called to step out in faith by moving our family to the frontlines of the mission field - but where?
Over the past eight years, God has called us to minister in several locations of the Southwestern United States and Mexico. We have worked with the Apache and Navajo Indians of Arizona, the Tarahumara Indians of Copper Canyon, and with children in Oaxaca, Mexico, as well as here locally through our O.C. Kids ministry. However, the majority of our ministry over the past eight years has been with the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico. Recently, it has become evidently clear to us that God is calling us to move in another direction altogether, at least for now.
We've also been blessed over the past several years by taking part in what God has been doing in the lives of the kids from our local ministry. God has blessed this local ministry incredibly, and for this we'll be forever grateful! These kids will be very difficult for us to leave, but we believe that God is calling us to step out in another direction and we want to be obedient to that calling.
Our philosophy for seeking direction for this ministry has always been fairly simple - to pray and find out where God is working and to join Him and we're committed to following this same philosophy in finding exactly where God would have us go. Our hearts are open to wherever God would lead, and we'll remain in prayer for His clear direction. We do sense that He might be calling us to Northeastern Arizona to be centrally located near the Apache, Navajo, and Hopi Reservations. This was one of our very first areas of ministry and we ask for your prayers in this.
We have always trusted God to provide financially for this ministry primarily through prayer alone and have rarely asked for specific help. We do, however, believe in sharing the need. While God has provided abundantly over the past eight years, the sad reality is that giving has been down over 70% this past year. We have always done our best to be good stewards with the resources that God has provided and will continue to do so, but the reality is that it will take substantial financial resources to move our family and establish a new ministry wherever we go.
We humbly ask that you pray that God would give us clear direction and if He would have you take part financially as led by the Holy Spirit in this exciting step of faith.
