Greetings!
We just wanted to send out a quick note to say thank you so much for your prayers while we were in Juarez, Mexico, last week. We were so cognizant of God's presence and protection each and every day. The intensity with which the border patrol agents on both the US and the Mexican sides carried out their duties definitely underscored the seriousness of their collective jobs during this time of increased crime and lawlessness. We happily and gratefully waited in many security lines both at the border and in Juarez itself as soldiers searched vehicles on a daily basis. We were so happy to see the kids of Una Esperanza once again, and we enjoyed a busy week with them. We were joined by a brave family from Texas, our friends Steve and Julie and their family, and we saw God move in many ways as we loved the kids and re-affirmed to the kids that they are each important to God and that He has a special purpose for each of them. While there were many blessings, there were also many schemes of the enemy, including an attempted burglary of our truck in El Paso, and what may have been a thwarted attempt to harass, rob, or cause us harm on the remote desert highway returning to the United States. We know that the many prayers lifted up on our behalf resulted in a safe and blessed trip to a place and a people who very much needed the hope of Christ right now. May God bless you each richly! P.S.
As we were about to send this e-mail out to you, we received news that
one of our girls at Una Esperanza, Alma, who is 10 years old, was
involved in an accident on Saturday where a wall fell on her and she is
in a coma. From what we understand, the doctors will be taking her off
life support tomorrow to see if she can survive. While we don't know
all the details, we do know that we love this little girl like one of
our own, and our hearts are broken by this news. We ask you to pray
for a miracle for her and her parents, Rosy and Francisco, that God
would heal her body and that the family would know His presence in a
very real way today.
