Legislators Announce Override Vote
|
On Women's Equality Day,
State Senate President Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Oliver announced that the
Legislature will vote to override the Governor's veto of legislation that would
fund women's health services. The Senate override vote is scheduled for September 20. If the override vote is
successful in the Senate, the state Assembly will vote on September 30. Originally the
legislation passed the Senate with a veto-proof majority. However, six senators
who originally supported the legislation announced that they would not vote to
override the veto. While
this is a disappointment, the fight is not over. We ask that you call these six
senators (even if you are not in their particular district) and let them know
that as a New Jersey resident you support funding for women's health and urge
them to override the veto.
Sen. Diane Allen - (609) 239-2800 Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman - (908) 526-3600 Sen. Andrew R. Ciesla - (732) 840-9028 Sen. Christopher Connors - (609) 693-6700 Sen. Sean T. Kean - (732) 974-0400 Sen. Robert Singer - (732) 901-0702
We also ask that you forward this message to your friends and family
and ask them to do the same. These votes are vital to the passage of the
legislation. |
