Ft. Myers, FL - Matt Caldwell, a candidate for District 73 of the Florida House of Representatives, announced today that his campaign has been endorsed by former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and current U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio.
"Matt Caldwell is a trusted friend, a proven leader and someone voters can trust to protect the individual liberties of Floridians," Rubio said in endorsing Caldwell. "He understood early on that Floridians deserve leaders who will stand up for limited government, free market principles, and I have been honored to have his support and abilities on our team. Matt is a committed public servant, and I am confident his conservative principles and values will be an asset to those he represents."
In welcoming the endorsement, Caldwell said, "I am honored and humbled by Marco Rubio's endorsement. Marco and I both believe in the founding vision of our country and will strive to bring our constituents fewer taxes, greater individual liberties, and a return to government's adherence to its Constitutional limitations. While spearheading Marco's campaign in Lee County, it became apparent to me how important it is that Republicans stand for the principles of limited government and personal freedom as key to getting our economy back on track and putting people to work."
Caldwell added, "One of the central themes of this campaign will be advancing policies that underscore my deep respect and commitment to the sacred trust between the elected representative and the voter. If I am blessed with the opportunity to serve this District in Tallahassee, it will only be because the voters lent me a portion of their God-given rights."
