This year's report, Remodeling 2011-12 Cost vs. Value Report (www.costvsvalue.com), like previous reports, is based on research data and trends using their proprietary format and, year after year, proves to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in home remodeling.

In the Atlanta-area report, you can investigate what the return on your home improvements will have on the value of your home, as well as estimates of the price range for your desired improvements. The report is broken into midrange and upscale data giving you job cost projections, resale value and cost recouped. I think it interesting to see which remodeling projects recoup the most value relative to the overall cost.

John Rogers wins NARI Awards &

Appointed Government Affairs Chair

John Rogers Renovations, Winner of three 2011 NARI Atlanta Contractor of the Year awards.

In July of 2011, John Rogers Renovations made a step forward and joined NARI, National Association of the Remodeling Industry, the largest and most influential remodeling association in the country. With over 8,000 members nationally and 250 members locally, NARI is a wealth of information, resources and influence on the local, state and national government levels. In our short time being a part of NARI, we have won Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards in three categories and our president, John Rogers, has been appointed as the chairperson of the government affairs committee here in Atlanta along with his participation on the national government affairs committee. While all of this is a bit intimidating, it is really something that interests John tremendously. Previous members of this board have been a part of shaping laws in our state relative to our industry such as State Contracting laws, RRP laws, OSHA regulations, permitting processes and more. Another aspect that John finds exciting is spreading the information back to the membership of NARI to keep everyone informed about the laws and regulations that affect our industry. He hopes to continue to raise the bar so that the "bad" contractors have nowhere to go in our state. Look for more information in the future as John learns about his new volunteer position.
